ABOUT MUNNAR

Munnar is one of the famous hill stations of India located in Idukki dist of Kerala State, India. Nearest Airport is Cochin (COK), 110 km away from Munnar. Munnar also can be reached from Bangalore by an overnight journey in luxury buses.

Munnar, is a wonderful place with amazing mountains, valleys at a height of 1,500 m to 2,695 m above sea level. Munnar was the summer resort of the British. The name Munnar is derived from “Monnu Aar”, means three rivers (which joins little away from Munnar). Munnar is famous for tea plantations. Strobilanthus (known as Neelakurinji), a blue flower blooms only every 12 years, is found in Munnar. It bloomed last in December 2006. Munnar has the highest peak of South India, Anamudi at 2,695 m high. Munar has cold weather during Dec-Jan and it is a popular place for honeymooners. As Munnar was one of the  preferred places for the British it was referred as, Switzerland of India. Munnar has lakes, waterfalls, wild life sanctuaries and much more to attract people to Munnar.
